Pastor Doreen Greenwood reports that recent biopsy results have indicated the presence of cancerous growths which her Doctors tell her are inoperable. Doreen plans to travel to Edmonton this week for a related surgical procedure and will need to make a decision soon regarding whether or not to submit to chemotherapy. She remains very positive and speaks of an inner peace and quiet confidence that she knows is God’s gift to her at this difficult time. Please keep Pastor Doreen in your prayers.
Mrs. Joyce Hoffman is recovering from a recent heart related illness requiring hospitalization in both Chilliwack and Royal Columbian Hospitals. Your prayers are appreciated.

Recent Gatherings
Retired Pastors:
Twenty five retired pastors and spouses gathered in Langley for a District sponsored luncheon on October 15th. The purpose of the gathering was to acknowledge and honour these church leaders for their many years of faithful service, to enjoy the camaraderie that comes from sharing a common mission and to provide an update of ongoing ministry across our District.
Pastors’ Professional Days:
Twenty eight active pastors gathered on October 20th and 21st in Abbotsford for our annual Pastors’ Professional Days seminar. The seminar was jointly sponsored by Canada Pacific District, Ambrose University College and the Church of the Nazarene, Canada. The seminar featured Dr. Mark Quanstrom, Professor of theology and philosophy in the School of Theology at Olivet Nazarene University and author of the book A Century of Holiness Theology (Dr. Quanstom’s PH.D. dissertation published in 2004 by Beacon Hill Press). Dr. Quanstom’s presentation during our time together was titled: “Returning to the Essentials: Theological Considerations Necessary for a Relevant Theology of Holiness.” Our pastors experienced the presence of the Holy Spirit as they contemplated God’s call to holiness of heart and life.
