We believe God’s purpose for each of us is to enjoy life as a wonderful gift filled with opportunities to experience love, joy, peace, contentment, purpose, and hope. That even in the midst of disappointment, setbacks, uncertainty, pain, and the normal struggles of 21st century living, God can enable us to find and enjoy real deep happiness. This we believe, and have come to experience, is found in a personal relationship with God through the Christ of Christmas and Easter.
Our church is a place where you will find help in beginning and growing in that all important relationship with God.
The purpose of the Nanaimo Church of the Nazarene is to glorify God through worship, bringing people to Jesus and membership in His family, developing them into Christ-like maturity, and equipping them for their ministry in the Church and life-mission in the world.
MINISTRIES
CHILDRENS CHURCH
The Nanaimo Church of the Nazarene is committed to the physical, social, mental, and spiritual growth of children. Children’s Church is a fun-filled time for children ages 4 through Grade 6.
We endeavor to provide an active, hands-on learning approach that will help kids:
- discover essential physical, social, mental, and spiritual skills
- develop self-esteem through recognition of their achievements
- experience positive interaction with caring adults and peers
- grow in their understanding of and appreciation for being part of God’s church family
YOUTH GROUP
Our Youth Group runs typically every second Friday in the Evenings, at a variety of locations, for ages 12 and up. Contact the Church @ youth@nanaimonazarene.com. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information or call 250.585.5553
OUR MISSIONS
SUPPER AND STUDY
Every 1st Sunday of the month, we gather as a family to enjoy a meal together. A couple of video clips taken from the mission field is shown and an offering is taken towards the Compassionate Ministry of the Church.
RESOURCE WAREHOUSE
The Church of the Nazarene in Victoria has set up a warehouse to collect a variety of items that may be shipped to people in need in various countries–used computers, medical supplies and equipment, clothing in good condition, furniture, beddings, and a lot more. Nanaimo folk love to go down there and help load containers. Call us up–come on down for the ride or get us to pick up items you’d like to donate.
BANDAGE MAKING
Bandages are made from bed sheets that have been donated from various sources. These are then sent to the Nazarene Resource Centre in Victoria and eventually sent to hospitals in countries that need them.
CRISIS CARE KITS
Crisis Care Kits (CCKs) continue to meet needs around the world. Nazarenes donated 53,000 CCKs in 2004! The kits went to Armenia, Iran, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Republic of Georgia, the Ukraine, and the United States. In early 2005, over 16,000 CCKs were sent to the Asia tsunami area.
